How contract intelligence works across Analyse, Create and Reform.
How contract intelligence works depends on the contract problem in front of you. ObliTracker has three distinct pathways: Analyse an existing contract, Create a new contract from business requirements, or Reform a contract drafted against your interests. Each pathway has a clear intake, defined process and practical outputs.
How contract intelligence works across three pathways.
Choose the pathway that matches whether you need an existing contract analysed, a new agreement created or a one-sided draft reformed.
Intelligence
See how contract intelligence works when an existing agreement needs its obligations, key dates, risks, anomalies and NZ/AU norms extracted.
Create
Build a new contract from scratch to NZ/AU standard using a guided questionnaire and structured drafting process.
Reform
Rewrite a contract the other party drafted, with full Intelligence analysis, approval gate, redraft and commentary.
How contract intelligence works for an existing agreement.
Use this pathway when you already have a contract and need its obligations, dates, risks and practical actions extracted into clear outputs for operational use.
Upload or send the contract
Upload the contract you want analysed. PDF or Word (.docx) is accepted. Provide relevant schedules, known concerns, deadlines, background context and any specific tracking needs. Only submit contracts you are authorised to share for operational analysis.
- Contract file provided, including schedules or addenda where relevant
- Known dates, renewal windows or concerns noted
- Purpose and business context captured
AI-assisted extraction and review
This is the core of how contract intelligence works. A structured 25-point extraction process covers obligations, prohibitions, rights, financial terms, defined terms, liability, key dates and recurring obligations.
NZ and Australian contracting norms are applied at this stage so unusual, below-standard or one-sided positions can be flagged for attention. This supports the practical contract management responsibilities described by NZ Government Procurement.
Human-reviewed structuring
Human review is a central part of how contract intelligence works. Extracted information is checked, structured and cleaned into usable outputs, with each item cross-referenced against the original contract before delivery.
Nothing is presented as a finding without a source clause reference, helping you trace each output back to the agreement.
Deliverables and tracking assets
Your outputs are delivered to your client portal. The exact deliverables depend on whether you select Clarity, Insight or Intelligence.
- Clarity: PDF report, calendar file and Calendar Import Guide
- Insight: PDF report, calendar file and Calendar Import Guide
- Intelligence: PDF report, HTML dashboard, calendar file and Calendar Import Guide
Clarity
PDF report, calendar file and Calendar Import Guide.
Insight
Deeper extraction plus PDF report, calendar file and Calendar Import Guide.
Intelligence
Full report, HTML dashboard, calendar file and Calendar Import Guide.

How contract intelligence works when creating a new agreement.
Use this pathway when the contract does not yet exist. A structured questionnaire captures the commercial requirements needed to prepare a first draft for solicitor review.
Purchase and complete the questionnaire
Purchase the Create tier for $495 and complete the structured questionnaire in your client portal.
- Contract type, parties and roles
- Scope, deliverables and payment terms
- IP position, liability preferences and dispute resolution preference
- Any special requirements or clauses you know you need
We build the draft
Your questionnaire responses are used to produce a complete draft for the selected contract type, structured around NZ and Australian contracting norms.
- Supports key contract types including services, contractor, NDA, SaaS, supply and subcontractor agreements
- Plain language throughout, with no unnecessary legalese
- Standard clause set applied for the contract type
Gaps are flagged, not filled
Where questionnaire responses are incomplete or a clause requires a commercial or legal decision, a [CLIENT TO CONFIRM] marker is inserted rather than inventing an answer.
Every gap is listed in the plain-language summary with an explanation of what needs to be decided.
Draft and summary delivered
Your completed outputs are delivered to your client portal within 2 business days of receiving your completed questionnaire.
- Draft contract (.docx): complete, plain language and ready for your solicitor
- Plain-language summary (.docx): key terms, gap list, norms applied and next steps
Important note
Contract intelligence, not legal advice. The draft must be reviewed by a qualified NZ solicitor before signing or sending it to another party. [CLIENT TO CONFIRM] markers identify unresolved decisions for review.
How contract intelligence works when reforming a one-sided draft.
Use this pathway when another party drafted the contract and you need the existing position analysed, a Reform Plan approved and a revised draft prepared for solicitor review.
Purchase and upload the contract
Purchase Reform for $750 and upload the contract you want rewritten. PDF or Word (.docx) accepted. This is typically a contract the other party has drafted.
Full Intelligence analysis
Before any redrafting begins, the full 25-point Intelligence extraction runs on the contract. This shows how contract intelligence works as the evidence base for Reform: obligations, risk flags, anomalies, NZ/AU norms gaps and recommendations are identified and documented.
This is the same analysis that costs $425 as a standalone Intelligence engagement, included in Reform.
Reform plan produced
A structured Reform Plan is produced listing every proposed change, clause by clause.
- Clause reference, nature of change, reason and proposed direction
- Every unchanged clause listed with the reason it is being left as-is
- Commercial decision items flagged separately
You review and approve
Review the Reform Plan, ask questions and direct decisions on flagged items. Nothing is rewritten until you explicitly approve the plan.
You can request changes to the plan across as many rounds as needed.
Redraft and deliverables produced
Your outputs are delivered to your client portal within 3 to 4 business days of plan approval.
- Redrafted contract (.docx): complete rewrite in plain language with all approved changes applied
- Reform commentary (.docx): clause-by-clause explanation written for your solicitor
- Risk delta report (.docx): before-and-after risk comparison written for you
Important note
The redraft must be reviewed by a qualified NZ solicitor before signing or sending it to another party. The Reform commentary is written for your solicitor and should be shared alongside the redraft.
How contract intelligence works depends on the quality of the input.
Each pathway needs different context because analysis, contract creation and contract reform solve different business problems.
Intelligence context
Provide the contract file, relevant schedules, known concerns, upcoming deadlines and any tracking needs such as calendar reminders, registers or dashboard preparation.
Create context
Have the contract type, full legal party names, scope, payment terms, IP position, liability preferences and any special clauses ready before completing the questionnaire.
Reform context
Provide the contract you want rewritten, any correspondence about the contract, your known concerns, previous versions and your solicitor’s initial view if you have one.
Contract intelligence, not legal advice.
ObliTracker helps you understand what the contract requires operationally and can produce draft or reformed contracts for commercial clarity. It does not provide legal interpretation, dispute advice, legal representation or formal legal review.
- Use ObliTracker to make obligations, dates and practical risks visible.
- Use a solicitor for legal interpretation, disputes or formal legal review.
- Only submit contracts you are authorised to share for operational analysis.
- Use the outputs to support better follow-through, ownership and tracking. Always have draft or reformed contracts reviewed by a solicitor before signing.
